Ya causing a lot of destruction is Ray. Don't care if he went around asking to marry every girl that was in statement to trying to say it to Lum which generally gets him mad turns into a hippo tiger thing and needs to eat to calm down. In terms even when he isn't mad he generally is just eating. Barely speaks much either then a few one liners or shorter. Ran at least has some characterization other then eating regardless that Ray is involved in her characterization. Literally no one is worse then Ray. Only characters that had less characterization then Ray is the Dappya but it's intentional. they're cameo characters. I don't think they put them in the new series though. No fishmen with space suits in 2022 version I think.

That's all he does. I did see it and watched the original anime too. He only thinks of food gets angry as he chases after Lum and has to get his face stuffed to go back to normal resulting in the only thing Ray does is eat and look pretty when he isn't transformed. Cherry is unlikable because he's an A-hole but he does a bit more and has more of a character then Ray ever has. Cherrry is the bum who will create means to steal food or to intentionally make things worse. In the original he'd even randomly try to kill Ataru calling him stuff like pitiful creature as example and breaking into their house unannounced to steal food.
